Club Activities
Meetings
- We hold 10 monthly meetings each year, from September through June.
- Each meeting features a fun craft or floral design project, a speaker about a gardening or flower arranging, or a “getting to know you” social gathering.
- Meetings are held in the evening, from 7 PM till 10 PM on the second Wednesday of each month.
- We also hold additional workshops, local garden tours and an annual overnight trip.
Community Projects
- We care for gardens around town including the gazebo and town hall. We also assist in decorating the town common every year for the holidays.
- We created the garden at the South Tewksbury Fire Station around the “Fireman’s Muster” fountain as well as the new Wildlife Meadow behind the Town Library.
- Each year we offer scholarships to Tewksbury students and to retarded adults.
- Over the past 10 years our annual Arbor Day program has worked with school children to plant more than 5000 tree seedlings.
- We support the Tewksbury Senior Center, the Library, the Food Pantry, and work with the elderly at local nursing homes.
- We truly dig the town of Tewksbury!
- We also hold additional workshops and garden tours as well as an annual overnight trip.
Club History
The Tewksbury Garden club has been serving the town of Tewksbury for more than 30 years. We are a small club, with not more than 40 active members of all ages.
Although you may not know it, we play a quietly active roll in the community: from re-landscaping the Town Common, for which we earned both State and National Awards, to raising funds for the Holiday Lights on Town Common.
We are members of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts and the National Garden Clubs, Inc.
Every year we plant and maintain flowerpots and beds around town, all while working together in fun and friendship.
Membership Requirements
- A willingness to make friends while working and learning together.
- A resident of Tewksbury or have a long-standing relationship with the town. (Examples: former resident or own a business in town).
- Attend 7 of our 10 meetings each year.
- Participate in our civic beautification activities. (Planting and sprucing up the town!)
- Annual dues of $25.00
Just let us know why you would like to join… perhaps you would like to learn about flower arranging or home gardening… or you care about our town and would like to make new, lasting friendships.
