Toys for Tots Update

The pack collected over 20 toys for needy children at our November pack meeting.  If anyone forgot to bring their toy to the meeting, toys can still be dropped off at the Center Fire Station.  Remember that the toys can be for any age child, but they should be unwrapped.

A Word from our Popcorn Kernel

Another popcorn season ends with a bang!  We did extremely well and this was the best year that I've seen in my years with Pack 49.  I want to thank everyone for coming to the show and sells, for selling door-to-door and selling to their friends and families.

Popcorn pickup will be on Saturday, December 8 at the Parish Center at St. Williams from 9am to noon.  See you there!

Also, I would like to thank Den 5 for volunteering with me to take on the Popcorn Fundraiser this year!

- Rob Dugan, Popcorn Kernel

Den News

Den 12 & 14 — We had a Webelos Scout camp out at camp Lalonde. on October 20th.  Each scout and their dad set up tents.  The boys each helped prepare a pot of beef stew they cooked over a fire. Of course s'mores were had by all.  In the morning they cooked pancakes and bacon over the fire.  They went on a hike, did archery, road the 4 wheeler and had tons of fun!!!

Den 7 & 8 – As we continue working on our craftsman activity pin, we made some origami ornaments for decorations. We have also been working on our athlete activity pin and the boys have been practicing running, sit- ups, pull-ups, push-ups and long jump. They have had one month to work on these skills and we will be doing a post-test shortly to see how they've all improved.

Den 5 – Our den has been very busy having a lot of fun at our den meetings.  We made a plaster cast of a foot for Achievement #7 and also had our fingerprints done on identification cards.  We also made a big mess with wood chips with our new knives for Achievement #19.  New this year for Den 5 is that we will be closing each den meeting with Cub Scout poems.

Den 10 – The scouts recently visited the 9/11 Memorial and then visited the Tewksbury Public Library to get information on how to get a library card as well as all of the different types of information they can access at the library.  During our most recent Den meeting, which was the night before Thanksgiving, the boys worked on making a Native American headdress.

Battleship Cove Sleepover

More than 20 cub scouts from pack 49—many of them new scouts—and their parents enjoyed another great sleepover on the USS Massachusetts.  Even with complaints that the bunks weren’t very comfortable, all the boys enjoyed themselves.  Maybe next time, you can go, too!
