Pack 49 Newletter — November 2007
Welcome Aboard
Pack 49 would like to welcome our newest committee member. Anatashia Palumbo-Darrigo has assumed the Treasurer’s responsibilities. Next time you see Tashia sitting at the Treasurer’s Table during a pack meeting, please stop by and thank her for volunteering!
November Pack Meeting
The November Pack Meeting will be BUSY BUSY BUSY!
During the meeting, we will be collecting all popcorn forms and payment. There are no exceptions. All forms and money must be in by 7pm on Monday, November 26! If you will not be attending the pack meeting, you must contact Rob Dugan prior to that date.
This year, our holiday charity is Toys for Tots. Please bring your donation to the November pack meeting and place it in the box provided. Remember that the toys can be for any age child, but they should be unwrapped.
Pack 49 will once again be participating in Tewksbury’s Festival of Trees at the Library. During one of your upcoming den meetings, you will be making ornaments for this event. These ornaments are also due at the November pack meeting.
Our Annual Uniform Inspection will also take place during the November pack meeting. Parents, please be sure that your scout is wearing his uniform shirt, his neckerchief, rank slide and appropriate insignia in the correct place! (Check your handbook if you are unsure where things go.) Boys should also have on clean pants, face and hands should be clean and hair should be neatly combed.

Great Job, Josh!
Congratulations to Josh, Den 5, for being this month’s winner of the Wal-Mart gift certificate. Josh has sold the most popcorn so far this year. There is still plenty of time to win more prizes, so get out there and sell sell sell. Our popcorn fundraiser is how the pack pays for things like awards, pack meetings and tickets to events like the Spinners game and the River Hawks game.
Committee Meetings
All adults of Pack 49 are invited to attend our monthly Committee meetings. It is during these meetings that all pack activities are planned. The next meeting will be November 11 at 6:30 pm at the Parish Center. We will be putting final touches on the November Pack Meeting activities, discussing upcoming activities and planning future pack meetings. All ideas are welcome! If you can’t make it to the meeting but want your thoughts and comments heard, please feel free to email Karen Denis, the Committee Chairperson, at karendenis@verizon.net.
Den News
The boys in Den 15 (Wolves) have already accomplished a lot this year. They started things off with a bike riding afternoon where they discussed bike riding safety, spent some time practicing their riding skills, and completed the Bicycling Belt Loop. Since then, the boys have been taking turns planning and carrying out flag ceremonies within the den in order to complete the “Your Flag” Wolf Achievement. At last week’s den meeting, the scouts learned about cooking and the Food Guide Pyramid. For fun (and because it was almost Halloween) they made “Mud and Dirt with Worms” and “Raven’s Nests”. YUMMY!
