Past Event Review

Cookout – went very well, despite the rain! New crew did great.

Memorial Day Parade – again, went really well. 23 scouts participated and float looked great.

Fishing Derby – 20 scouts participated. Biggest Fish caught by Shawn Yu, Most Fish caught by Jimmy Boucher, Smallest Fish caught by Jeffrey Anderson.

July 8 – Kite Flying at Livingston Street Pavilion/State Field – Flyer sent out last week.

July 15 – Hike – waiting to hear back from Paul Fitzpatrick with details so that a flyer can go out.

August 5 – Play Day at Livingston St. Pavilion. Does anyone have any specific ideas on what we could do?

August 25 – Spinners Sleepover (22 sleepover tickets remaining)

Administration

Treasurer's Report – still looking for a Treasurer

Roundtable – With the change in GeorgeÕs hours, we will need to rotate attendance at future roundtables. This will be discussed at next committee meeting. In the meantime, Karen attended the June roundtable and picked up information regarding next yearÕs themes and the new Quality Unit Award requirements.

Pack-wide Email – tabled until next meeting
Website – Suggestions - tabled until next meeting

New Business

Quality Unit Award – Karen met with Roy Corbeil, the Greater Lowell DistrictÕs Commissioner to review the new requirements. The most difficult item will be to get 60% of our leaders trained by the end of this calendar year. More info regarding the award will be available at the next committee meeting.

Planning for 2007-2008 school year

Registration Night –September 12 (Wednesday) at the Parish Center. Marilena Dugan will be in touch with leaders requesting assistance.

Parent Involvement – Still undecided about how to present new parental involvement requirements to families

Fundraising – Popcorn fundraiser is definitely the most effective way for scouts to raise funds. Unfortunately, we still do not have a ÒPopcorn KernelÓ. If anyone has any suggestions, please let Karen or Mike know.

BSA Monthly Themes – Themes for the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 years are available. We will try to use some of these themes during the next year.

                  Special Events

Townwide Packs activity – The other Cub Scout packs in Tewksbury are interested in doing an event with us, preferably a Rocket Launch. If any leaders have information regarding requirements for an event such as this, please let Karen know. We were thinking about an early fall date.

Lowell River Hawks Hockey Game – Mike will contact Jim Barry regarding River Hawks contact info.

Battleship Sleepover – will take place on Thanksgiving weekend (November 24/25). Mike will look into this.

Campout – Mike will also look into doing a local campout in early fall. The Tewksbury Road and Gun Club grounds and Camp 40 Acres in Wilmington were suggested.

Halloween Party – Mike suggested that we try a hayride and bonfire with songs and skits. (Rob Dugan will be talking to the Rec Department regarding using their facilities for this event.)

SchoolÕs Out Cookout – The annual cookout will be on June 22 at the Parish Center. This event will count toward Summertime Award. We are hoping the weather will be better/drier/warmer.

September Pack Meeting – will be on Friday, September 28 at (tentatively) the Wynn School auditorium. Part of the meeting will be a karate demonstration (provided by TSDI) which includes a ÒStranger DangerÓ presentation. It will touch on some of the Bobcat requirements for new scouts.
