Shawsheen Tech Graduate Mike Kelley looking to return to high school, this time as a member of the Shawsheen Tech School Committee.

TEWKSBURY - Life long resident and Shawsheen Tech Alumnus Mike Kelley announced that he is running for a position on the Shawsheen Tech School Committee.

Mike indicates he is excited by the opportunity to serve his fellow Tewksbury residents as a member of the Shawsheen Tech School Committee.   He said he was truly fortunate to have attended Shawsheen Tech and that his experience there was extremely positive and absolutely key to the success that he has achieved in private industry.

Mike is a a committed advocate for vocational education and said he will work hard to ensure that Tewksbury children have the same opportunities that he had for success.

Mike is well known in our community and has previously served as a member of the School Committee, Finance Committee, Conservation Commission and Town Technology Committee.  He has also worked with non-profit organizations and was a long time member of the Tewksbury Historical Society Board of Directors.

As an alumnus of the Tech, Mike has been disappointed at the deepening divide between the school district and our community.  He said that as a member of the Shawsheen Tech School Committee he will work to reopen those lines of communication and improve relations with our community.

Mike feels this elected position should be spending time in the community advocating for the school and most importantly for the kids like he once
was, those that will directly benefit from a vocational education.

He indicated that both Shawsheen Tech School Committee members should be meeting on a regular basis in a publicly televised forum with the executive boards in our own community, and then attending each and every annual town meeting.  He feels this is critical and it just isn't being done.

The Tewksbury Historical Society is asking for your assistance to help locate pictures, documents and other artifacts from Tewksbury for a local history book that they are working on!

The Tewksbury Historical Society is seeking to borrow, accept donations, or in some cases purchase copies of Tewksbury related historical documents, pictures and any other items for a book that we are currently putting together.  We will electronically scan these items and create high resolution images for the book and to display on our  website.  In addition, the high quality images we create will be archived to long life DVD-R media so that future generations will also have access.

The equipment we use will not hurt the original and it only takes a few moments to scan images and documents.  In most cases, if you feel comfortable loaning us your Tewksbury items then we can easily have them back to you on the very next day.  If there are concerns about loaning out these items to the Society then any of our members will be happy to meet with you at a convenient location and time of your choosing (i.e. Local Residences, Town Library, Town Senior Center, etc) with the digital imaging equipment that we use to capture a copy of these items.   You can email tewksburyhistoricalsociety@msn.com.

Additional information concerning the Historical Society and our activities can be found at  http://www.tewksburyhistoricalsociety.org.
